The San Francisco Unions were established in 1884 as the Brooklyn Excelsiors. They played their home games at The Brooklyn Sporting Grounds. In 1891 they were renamed the Brooklyn Unions when the team donned an all blue uniform in place of the red and white uniform. In 1905 the Unions went back to the traditional white home uniform and gray road uniforms but kept dark blue as the main color. In 1914 the Unions moved into Tebbets Field. In 1947 the Unions broke the color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson. In 1961 the Unions moved to San Francisco after failer to get s new stadium. From 1961 to 1963 they played in San Francisco Colliseum before moving to Bell Pacific Park which would be their home till 2000 when they moved to their current stadium Toyota Stadium.
