The Atlanta Thrashers are an American professional baseball franchise based in Atlanta, Georgia. They are in the North American Baseball Association's American League, and were one of the founding six teams of the league in 1884. They began as the Albany Senators, located in Albany, New York, where the league was founded with an 1884 in the city's town square. The Atlanta Thrashers have the most championships of any team in the league, with 15, and the most playoff appearances at 38. They were also a part of the Atlanta Monopoly, a period in the 40s, 50s, and 60s where either the Thrashers, the Atlanta Kings, or both were in the American Grand Finals 22 times in 29 years. They were known as the Bullies for most of the Monopoly, due to their aggressive, overtly-confident playing style that made them feared around the league, a nickname upheld today.
